Cammaert was born in Bornem, province of Antwerp. Then he moved to the Netherlands. Cammaert graduated in 2006 from the Amsterdam School of Drama and Kleinkunstacademie. He played in the stage performances In breathlessness towards death (2005), Don Carlos (2005), The woman of the past (2005) and The family Avenier (2007 [part 1 and 2], 2008 [part 3 and 4]) In 2009 he played the role of Cléante in the play The Imprisoned Sick of Molière during De Utrechtse Spelen and in 2010 the role of Frits van Egters in De Avonden to the novel by Gerard Reve.
In 2011 he was seen in Bent together with Kevin Hassing. In 2014 and 2015 Cammaert played the role of Anton Roover in Soldier of Orange, in 2016 the role of Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema. During the 2014/2015 season, Cammaert played the role of Berend in Onder de groene hemel, a musical with hits by Boudewijn de Groot and Lennaert Nijgh. Furthermore, he was shown at the end of 2015 in the film Yes, I want! as Sam and in the film Public Works as Friedrich Ebert.
In 2016, Cammaert appeared in Kogelvis, a production of the Bellevue lunch theater in collaboration with Toneelgroep Oostpool. During the 2016/2017 season Cammaert participated in the performance De Meiden van Toneelgroep Amsterdam. In 2018 he was seen as Lorenzo in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Julia van Toneelgroep Oostpool. Cammaert participated in 2017 in the seventeenth season of Wie is de Mol? in which he was de Mol.
